Step into the world of oceans and adventures
It is quite unusual to find a hotel, a grand café and a party & conference venue right on the water. The Delta Hotel has been standing on the banks of the Nieuwe Maas river for more than 60 years now. When it opened in 1955, we had 24 hotel rooms, now we have 81. We are inspired by the sea and the world of yachtsmen and women heading for adventures such as the sports stars who take part in the Volvo Ocean Race that takes them around the world.
Each room in Delta Hotel Vlaardingen has a trendy and fresh interior with a nod towards to yachting. The sun blinds are made from canvas, for instance, fabrics come in maritime colours and lamp shades have prints of sea maps on them. That also explains the names of our rooms: matroos (sailor), stuurman (helmsman) and the kapitein (captain) suite.
Delta Hotel caters for everyone who loves food, without starched tablecloths but with an exciting menu. We are ready for everyone who wants to find out about other worlds, for go-getters who get everything out of life and who want to celebrate something in a special setting. We are here for everyone who wants to relax whilst enjoying vast views across the water.
Whether you opt for the Delta Hotel for an overnight stay, a delicious meal, an inspired conference or a wedding, it will always include sea air and a smidgen of adventure.
The adventurous yachtsman from Vlaardingen
Did you know that one of the first Dutchmen to navigate around the world came from Vlaardingen? His name was Bertus Zijdenbos, pub owner and adventurer. In July 1969, after having spent three years at sea, he sailed his ship Santa Maria back into the port of Vlaardingen. During his honorary celebrations, he said: ‘I never wanted to chase records, I just wanted to see something of the world. It has been a fantastic voyage.’ According to his son, Bertus Jr., who accompanied his father for half of the journey, Zijdenbos liked a good meal. At Christmas, he prepared big dinners on a simple two-ring gas hob.
Vlaardinger, yachtsman and a lover of good food; this will go some way to explaining why Zijdenbos is a source of inspiration to us.
Relax and enjoy the fabulous views
All rooms of the Delta Hotel have a trendy interior with nods to sailing and life at sea. All the facilities you may expect from a stay at a four-star hotel are present, such as a bath, a rainfall shower, air-conditioning and a minibar. If you choose a riverside room, you will have fabulous views of the Nieuwe Maas. Many of our rooms have a glass floor-to-ceiling façade, enabling you to view the water taxis, ships and yachts that pass by.
Want to hold a conference or presentation at a quiet venue that is fitted with all mod cons? Are you looking for an inspiring setting for a brainstorming or training session? The Delta Hotel offers various modern and comfortable rooms with a nautical feel. Be inspired by the yachtsmen and women in the background who sail around the world.
